The waters beneath Blue Heron Bridge off of Phil Foster Park in Riviera Beach contain over 300 tropical and sub-tropical species of marine life. It’s ease of access to such diversity has earned a top rating consistently with dive and travel specialists year after year. Bring your camera because you are likely to see everything from seahorses to manatee, batfish to frogfish, flying gurnards to pigmy octopus, and barracuda to hogfish – not to mention pillow stars, conquistador conch, and lobsters.

We’ll meet, brief, and gear up at the picnic tables between the old bridge and the restrooms at the southwest corner of the parking lot. Parking is free but it fills quickly as high tide approaches. This site is best dived during the slack period one hour before and after peak high tide. Our meet time allows us to be in the water at just the right time.

Maximum depth for this dive is 18 feet and bottom time is usually one hour, so have enough air and dress out according to your comfort level. Under most conditions, this is a good dive for those wishing to build their experience and well within the skill level of competent open water certified divers. Besides basic scuba gear, you may want to bring gloves, flashlight, and camera.
