IT BEGINS WITH AWARENESS
Beach divers know the value of coral reefs. Without them, our oceans would lack essential spawning and nursery sites, oxygenation, habitat and feeding grounds for thousands of species. Without them, many coastlines would be ravaged by storm surge and wave action unchecked by the structure reefs provide.
We need coral reefs and now the reefs need us. World Reef Awareness Day began June 1, 2020, initiated by organizations who wish to promote the cause of coral reefs by education the public about the dangers reefs face and practical solutions for immediate action.
