Imagine a wall of boulders and limestone crevices 20 feet tall, teaming with life and color. Snook lurk beneath dark ledges, tarpon cruise overhead, turtles clamber among the coral, and reef fish flit about like birds in a meadow.

The Pompano Dropoff is the east facing wall of the first reef, descending from about 14' beneath the surface to depths up to 35' in the sand. Divers bold enough to make the swim to the mooring balls above, drop down to drift among the marvels suitable to any tropical reef system in the Caribbean.

Incredibly, this site can be reached from beach and so we will after gearing up, buddying up, and briefing. This dive is suitable for an open water diver but one needs stamina to make the 300 yard surface swim. If conditions are good, one can count on an easy drift dive and a smooth swim underwater back to the beach. Depths may reach 35' and bottom time is approximately 60 minutes.

Bring your camera and make sure your battery is charged and your memory card is empty. You won't want to miss the wonders of this dive.
