Lauderdale by the Sea is quickly becoming famous for it outstanding reef just yards off the shore and a few steps away from parking. A few fin kicks beyond the sand bar lies a unique snorkel trail that features replica cannons, ballast piles, and a ship's anchor. Next, a complex and tiered hard bottom reef dazzles with brain coral, gorgonians, sponges, and ledges, swarming with every reef fish imaginable. Past the pier, the first reef system beckons divers to explore its crags, mounds, and tunnels. This dive MUST be in your log book.
We'll meet early enough to grab good parking either right on the beach, adjacent on-street parking, or the nearby public lot. Geared up, we'll meet at the beach portal, buddy up, and brief for the dive. Maximum depths are 16-20' and bottom times may be 45-60 minutes. This dive is well within the ability of open water divers who are current on their skills and instructed in surf entry procedures.
