You completed your OW certification and you may have done some diving since then but it was all from a boat. What is Beach Diving and why is everyone so excited about it? This is your chance to find out and add a new dimension to your scuba playbook.
We'll meet in the park near the Jetty Pavilion (last parking lot north in the park). During the dive briefing, we'll cover beach diving essentials and techniques, some site specifics, and answer any questions you have regarding surf entries and exits.
Standard dive gear is required as with any dive. (If you need equipment, see below). In addition, each buddy team should have a dive flag and reel (should be a part of your personal gear set). In this location, we gear up at the vehicles and walk down to the surf, fins in hand for our entry (a distance of about 40 yards).
You are welcome to sit in on the briefing even if you don't plan to dive afterward. Maximum depth at this site is about 20 feet and bottom time should be no more than 60 minutes.
The park is a great location for diving and the entrance fee ($4) covers parking and amenities, including wash stations, clean restrooms, etc.
RENTAL GEAR IS AVAILABLE on this dive. Air tanks, $10; BCD, $15; Regs, $15; Weights, $5 any amount. Please advise of your need at least 3 hours prior to the dive to ensure timely delivery. If needing BCD, state size.
