Here is a chance to give, to pay it forward, to help the environment, AND to dive! Thousands of earth-friendly volunteers will be traipsing the sand and shores this Saturday, removing debris that poses a threat to flora and fauna. South Florida Beach Divers will take charge of the ocean floor and reef beyond the sandbar of our wonderful State Park.
We'll meet in the SE corner of Parking Lot #2 of Mizell-Johnson State Park (6503 N. Ocean Dr., Dania Beach, FL) where we will gear up, buddy up, and set forth to the surf. At that time, we'll also submit our personal registration sheets to those managing the event. They use that information to track participation and results, gathering information helpful to next year's campaign. I will transmit a copy of the registration sheet to all who respond to this event. Print, sign, and bring the copy with you.
In addition to your basic scuba kit, a mesh bag, gloves, sea snips or shears, are recommended. We will have some mesh bags to spare, as well as a few sets of gloves ($5).
RENTAL GEAR IS AVAILABLE on this dive. Air tanks, $10; BCD, $15; Regs, $15; Weights, $5 any amount. Please advise of your need at least 3 hours prior to the dive to ensure timely delivery. If needing BCD, state size.
