DAILY BEACH DIVER REPORT: 9-16-22

So, storms are skittering around our coastline but their winds are nothing compared to what next week’s tropical storm will be packing. The present system will moderate by Saturday, allowing us 2-3 decent diving days before the middle of next week. No one can predict the strength or actual landfall of that new storm presently entering the Caribbean but even its influence may be enough to trash our surf. Take advantage of 1-2’ surf these next few days. Visibility is actually pretty good (but not excellent), current is mild and surge is moderate, temp is 88F, and the only real challenge now is that little bit of sargassum weed near the shoreline.

BTW, here is a hint as to when heavy weather is approaching: When lobsters and other mobile reef life leaves the shallows and heads toward the third reef, it is a sign that within a few days the bottom will fall out of the barometer. Watch that happen over the next few days and note that in your logbook.
